A chemical peel is a dermo-cosmetic procedure that consists of provoking accelerated skin regeneration in a controlled manner through application of chemoexfoliation agents that are used to act on different layers of the skin. The peeling action causes the desquamation of the superficial layers of the skin with the objective of stimulating collagen, elastin and increasing our skin’s natural moisturizing factors.
Main indications and results
- Purify and oxygenate skin, leaving it moisturized and free of pollutants and impurities
- Minimize open pores, improves the texture of the skin and increase thickness of the epidermis
- Address the effects of skin aging, softening fine lines and wrinkles
- Unify skin tone, add luminosity and smooth cutaneous imperfections
- Reduce the manifestations of acne and improve the appearance of scars
Number of sessions required
The number of sessions we recommend is between 4-6 treatments. Regular maintenance peels of four times a year, sustain the skin’s healthy appearance, improving texture and providing a preventive, anti-aging effect. However, peel frequency is always contingent on the type of peel applied and its indication.
Chemical peels
Glycolic acid
Glycolic acid is a peel that can be used on all skin types. It improves exfoliation of superficial layers of the skin and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, preventing the premature aging. It increases levels of moisture in the epidermis and unifies skin tone.
Lactic acid
Lactic acid stimulates production of new collagen and glycosaminoglycans, which are the skin’s natural moisturizing factors. It improves the expression lines and superficial wrinkles and is indicated for sensitive, dry and thinning skin and delicate areas such as the neck and décolleté due to its high tolerance by the skin.
Salicylic acid
Salicylic acid has a powerful keratolytic, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect. Ιt controls the sebaceous secretion and it is suitable for all skin types, particularly dry skins, those with a tendency to hyperkeratinisation and oily, acne prone, comedogenic and/or seborrhoeic skins. It reduces pore size, has an oil regulating effect and it helps with superficial acne scars and moderate actinic keratosis.
Azelan peel
Azelan peel consists of azelaic and salicylic acid. Azelaic acid is antibacterial with anti-inflammatory and oil-regulating action. Salicylic acid has a powerful keratolytic effect. It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and astringent properties. This peel is ideal for acne and acne scars, post-inflammatory pigmentation caused by acne and actinic keratosis.
Mandelic acid
Mandelic acid gently and gradually penetrates the skin. It stimulates collagen and proteoglycan synthesis, encouraging skin rejuvenation and allowing gentler, more gradual exfoliation. It is suitable for oily and seborrheic skin as well as for cases of pigmented lesions.
Melanoplus Peel
Mesopeel Melanoplus is a combination of Trichloroacetic acid (TCA), Kojic acid, Ferulic acid and Bexaretinyl complex. It acts on the skin proteins and stimulates the activity of fibroblasts, producing collagen and elastin, has a whitening effect by reducing the rate of melanin biosynthesis and also antioxidant action, neutralizing free radicals and acting against hyperpigmentation and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation of acne.
